This celebratory evening, on what would have been James Kirkup's 92nd birthday, will feature the results of the first James Kirkup Memorial Poetry Competition. The event is a collaboration between Red Squirrel Press and South Tyneside Libraries and will be attended by the competition winners and other North East poets. A reading group for people who are interested in poetry, either reading, listening and/or writing poetry. The group decide which poet or period to look at in future sessions. There are also opportunities for you to read your own poetry.
Come along to the Poetry Reading Group. It will help you grow in confidence to develop your own reading and introduce you to poetry you might never have thought to pick off the shelf. A different poetry collection is discussed/ debated at each session.
